Day 4: Gyumri City Tour

Walking along the streets of old Gyumri one still seems to hear the voice of the smiths hammers, it seems that a cart will appear from the street corner and the carter will call to show the city. The old houses, a part of which fortunately resisted the devastating earthquake in 1988. These buildings are notable with their architectural solutions, combination of colorful stones and masterfully elaborated bas-reliefs. Gyumri has always been the center of cultural events.

It was build during 988-1029 years. It is located on the left bank of Akhurian River. It consists of 5 churches, which are the best surviving examples of the "Ani school" of medieval Armenian architecture.

Day 6: Ashtarak - Oshakan -Hovhannavanq - Saghmosavank - Amberd

Translated in English it means apricot-colored church. It is a 5th-century partly ruined Armenian church located at the edge of a gorge.

Built in 1664, the bridge has three arches of unequal size. The bridge crosses the Kasagh River. Today, the area underneath and the surrounding of the bridge is a great place for picnics.

It was built to house some of the remains of Saint George who was known as the "Slayer of Dragons". In the interior of the church there are numerous religious frescoes painted in the 17th century.
