Day 2: Best of Cairo
Pyramids of Giza
The guide will provide you with all the history of the area, the 9 pyramids of the kings, queens, and princesses, the sphinx, and the valley temple of mummification. You will have enough time for photography, and extra options such as entering one of the pyramids, visiting the sun boat museum, or riding a camel.

The museum was opened in 1901. It houses thousands of artifacts. You will be overwhelmed by what you see around you: statues, golden treasures, tools, royal mummies, animal mummies, and much more. Although, you need weeks to cover everything in this huge building, however, your guide will explain with passion the highlight.

Your first stop in this historic city is the catacombs of Kom ash-Shuqqafa, a Roman burial site whose family tomb reveals the merging of Egyptian and Roman art and architecture. Descend below ground to visit the Caracalla Hall.

Continue to Pompey's Pillar, an 82-feet (25-meter) granite column built to honor Emperor Diocletian, who freed the besieged city and brought food to its starving people.
30 minutesCitadel of Qaitbay
The fort of Qaitbay was built in 1477 to protect the Eastern side of the city. The fort was built in the same location as the great lighthouse of Alexandria.)
