30 minutesAnanuri Fortified Castle Ensemble
Ananuri fortress is a sixteenth-century castle complex on the Aragvi River. The fortress stands beside the famous Georgian Military Highway, overlooking a large Jinvali lake. Its high, turreted stone walls protect two churches, a watchtower, and a reservoir. The main church facade is beautifully carved with animal, floral and Celtic style patterns.

Next stop on the way is Gudauri, a remarkable ski resort in Georgia. The resort is at the altitude of 7217 feet (2200 meters) above the sea level. The first lower lift station is at 6528 feet (1,990 meters ) above sea level and the last, or top, the station is at 3,306 meters called summit Sadzele. The resort offers high-quality skiing opportunities. The ski season lasts from December through April.

Deutscher Soldatenfriedhof
On the highest point of the cross pass, a small military cemetery is fenced. A symbol of the used prisoners of war who were used in the 40s of the last century in the road and died here.

1 hourMount Kazbek/ Mqinvartsveri
It is the third-highest peak in Georgia (after Mount Shkhara and Janga) and the seventh-highest summit in the Caucasus Mountains. Kazbek is also the second-highest volcanic summit in the Caucasus, after Mount Elbrus. The summit lies directly to the west of the town of Stepantsminda and is the most prominent geographic feature of the area. Mount Kazbek is the highest peak of Eastern Georgia.
Restaurant Pasanauri
On the way back to Tbilisi we will stop at one of the restaurants in the Pasanauri village. This place is considered the birthplace of Georgian dumplings - Khinkali. Here you can also try fresh river fish, lamb and much more.
