Private Santorini Cooking, Tasting, and Wine Experience
Santorini, Greece
Love cooking? Love wine? Discover how Santorini' s volcanic soil shapes the island's unique flavors with this 5-hour private cooking class and tasting tour. Visit a family estate winery, taste local produce and wines, cook an authentic Greek lunch at a local restaurant, then wash down the fruit of your labors with Santorini' s excellent wine.
Description
Your private, local driver/guide will collect you from the closest accessible point towards your hotel for our vehicle at 9:30am for the short and scenic drive to a traditional local farm. Stroll through a local farm, tasting seasonal products.
Next, visit a family estate winery. As you marvel at the vineyards perched on their steep slopes, you'll learn about Santorini's indigenous grape varietals, how they survived a plague that decimated Europe's vines, and the secrets of the soil that gives them their unique flavors. As you enjoy a tutored tasting, you'll learn how very much more there is to Greek wine than retsina!
From here, it's time for probably the highlight of the day for any foodie – the chance to learn to prepare some classic Greek dishes. With the help of a professional chef, in a pretty open-air restaurant, you'll put together a feast of Greek fare, with a uniquely Santorini spin – and leave with all the recipes ready to take home. A vegetarian option is available.
Finally, enjoy the fruits of your labors! Savor the 3-course menu you've prepared washed down with some of Santorini's excellent wines. Soak up the atmosphere – and the sun! - as you feast on your very own Greek lunch. Your driver/guide will chauffeur you back to the original pick up point or hotel, around 2:30pm.
