Half-Day Grbavica and Malta Food Tour in a Small Group
Half-Day Grbavica and Malta Food Tour in a Small Group
This culinary tour takes you out of touristy Sarajevo, to where the locals live, work and spend their time - and of course we will stop at numerous typical Bosnian restaurants where we will taste local delicacies.Probably no other neighborhood in Sarajevo has such a turbulent history as Grbavica, which was not only shelled but also occupied by enemy troops during the siege of the city. Very slowly the inhabitants rebuilt their Grbavica after 1996 - now it is a lively district with many restaurants and cafes and a small green oasis in the midst of socialist architecture.

You start your tour at Sarajevo City Center and walk past the Parliament to your first tasting destination!
30 minutesJordanian Mosque
After the first stop, you continue walking past the Jordanian Mosque, which impressively shows how Grbavica has developed in the last 30 years since the end of the Bosnian War. Your guide will tell you some exciting details about how the social structures in this part of the city have changed in recent years.
Pijaca Grbavica
Time to sample some local specialty cheeses and sausages at the second tasting stop! Grbavica Market is a typical place where the residents of the neighborhood shop, source fresh and local produce from the farmers and exchange the latest gossip over a coffee.
20 minutesStadion Grbavica
Formerly located directly on the front line, this football stadium has a moving and impressive history of woes behind it. You will learn why this football club is inextricably linked to this district of Sarajevo and what it means to the residents.
10 minutesDolac Malta
The next two stops on this food tour take you to the other side of the Miljacka River, to the district of Malta. Here you will taste another Bosnian national dish and taste Bosnian craft beer.
1 hourAleja Lipa
You walk back to the Grbavica district - hopefully the beer has stimulated your digestion, because here you can taste a real specialty of the city in a very classic restaurant!
30 minutesHrasno
No food tour in Sarajevo would be complete without Bosnian coffee and a little candy! That's why you end your food tour with a stop at what is perhaps the most famous Slastičarna in town!
30 minutesVilsonovo šetalište
Your guide will take you back to Sarajevo City Center where the tour ends. After a long meal, you will surely enjoy a short walk along the "green oasis" of the city, the Wilsonovo promenade, where young families, athletes and friends gather for a walk in the evening.
