On our guided tour you will learn the true importance of Belgian comics on the international scene, and which schools and authors have made their fame possible. You will learn about the "clear line" that is talked about so much in Franco-Belgian comics, and you will discover many of the murals that have been dedicated to the ninth art in the heart of Belgium.This tour is designed both for people who do not know anything about comics and for those who are more familiar with this art.As if that were not enough, in addition to the murals, you will see Tintin's house (before he moved to Moulinsart castle) and the statue hidden in plain sight of The Smurfs. Boulevard Anspach
We are at the entrance of the Brüssel gallery and store, and you will discover why this name is important within Belgian comics, as well as learn about the origins of the comic.
10 minutesBroussaille - Mur BD - Street Art
We will see several murals dedicated to the world of comics (among them, the first to be created in the city) and we will discover who their authors are, how they relate to each other, what the different schools of Franco-Belgian comics are, etc. Paying special attention to the so-called "clear line". We'll look at examples like Victor Sackville, Ric Hochet, Kinky & Cozy, and Thorgal.
30 minutesRue Terre-Neuve
After visiting several more murals, such as that of Yoko Tsuno, we will arrive at the house that inspired Hergé to place his most famous reporter, Tintin. Very close to the market where the character with the bangs finds the famous "unicorn".
10 minutesGrace Espace d'Art Dessin dans le Mur - Manneken Peace
We will continue to see various designs until we reach the graphic version of the Manneken Pis, a large mural in his honor, next to his wardrobe, where we will recount some of this little boy's forays into the world of Franco-Belgian comics. Prominent examples will be XIII, Young Albert, and Olivier Rameau.
10 minutesTintin Mural Painting
From here we will dedicate some time to Tintin, starting with the mural in which he appears and which takes us to "The Calculus Affair", very close to the city center.
5 minutesLa Boutique Tintin
We will see the entrance of the Tintin boutique, where you can find various articles related to the famous reporter, and which is beautifully set in "The Blue Lotus".
5 minutesLes Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert
Not only from comics did Hergé live. We will talk about the incursions in the theater of the Tintin characters, which took place in these galleries.
5 minutesSmurf Statue
After talking about the important Moof museum, the statue of this huge Smurf will invite us to talk about him and his creator and the boutique that we can find next to him.
10 minutesSmurfs Passage
The end point of the guided tour is under the mural passage dedicated to The Smurfs and the life and customs of Brussels represented by these blue characters. Will you discover all the secrets that this mural keeps?
