Hill 62 (sanctuary Wood) Canadian Memorial Canadalaan 26
First stop is an overview of the geography of the area and the battles that take place around Ypres. Using a map and field equipment i will fully explain the who, whys and whats.
30 minutesSanctuary Wood Museum
A visit to the excellent Sanctuary Wood museum to see its unbelievable collection of artifacts and extensive preserved British trench system
40 minutesEssex Farm Cemetery
A visit to the preserved dressing station bunkers and the memorial to Lt Col John McCrae and the story of the In Flanders Fields Poem
40 minutesLangemark Cemetery
The German cemetery in Langemark, with its mass grave and links to the Nazis makes it a fascinating visit.
40 minutesThe Brooding Soldier
The iconic Canadian monument, "The Brooding Soldier" commemorates the Canadian soldiers lost in the gas attacks of 1915. The gardens are also beautiful.
20 minutesTyne Cot Cemetery
After driving through the battlefields of Passchendaele we finish the morning at the beautiful Tyne Cot cemetery the largest British and Commonwealth war grave cemetery in the world.

After a light lunch we visit the preserved German Command post in Zandvoorde

Preserved battlefield, bunkers and mine craters. The story of the terrible fighting at Hill 60
30 minutesCaterpillar Mine Crater
The story of the battle of Messines Ridge and the war underground at the site of the awe inspiring Caterpillar crater.
30 minutesChristmas Truce Memorial
After a drive along the Messines Ridge and through the town of Messines we visit one of the sites of the iconic Christmas truce of 1914.
30 minutesThe Ploegsteert Memorial
The last stop of the tour is the stunning Ploegsteert Memorial to the missing and the story of William Hackett V.C. an incredible story of self sacrifice.
30 minutesMenin Gate Memorial
This is an optional stop for those who are not staying in Ypres and wish to attend the Last Post ceremony.
