Private Old Lisbon Tour by Tuk Tuk
Private Old Lisbon Tour by Tuk Tuk
The tour performs the magic of changing visitors into locals (hopefully not too much) in just 75 minutes. You just have to sit down, listen to me saying the hocus-pocus words and when you leave the tuk tuk you’re completely versed about Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Moors and Crusaders who shaped Alis-Ubbo in the last 30 centuries, the main influences of each one and the must-see attractions in old town. After the tour, my clients can enjoy at least one full day of quality time by themselves, exploring my leads. The tour includes the visit of several works of some contemporary leading street artists (Vhils, Fairey) and many picturesque details of Alfama, Mouraria and Graça districts.

A curated journey through the experience
Rossio Square
Rossio square is the main town in Lisbon since the Roman Empire. You'll be able to see Rossio station (trains to Sintra), the Statue of king Pedro the 4th, the ruins of Carmo church, Baixa (the grid section of city), Augusta st, the National Theatre and Ginginha store where you should return by the end of the tour to sip the best Cherry Liquor in town
Shepard Fairey x Vhils
Many see this attraction as the tour's highlight. American street artist Sheppard Fairey (obeygiant) and Portuguese Vhils (vhils) joint ventured to produce a work where the whole is clearly bigger than the sum of its parts.
Miradouro da Senhora do Monte
This is the highest point in town. From here you can have a comprehensive view of the Moorish castle, the old town and the ferries crossing the river. Mouraria is at your feet, Baixa a little further, Chiado and Bairro Alto in the confronting hill. Down the river you can see 25th April bridge (the twin sister of Golden Gate) and in the south bank the statue of Christ redeemer.
10 minutesMosteiro De Sao Vicente De Fora
It's a fine church and monastery (16th-17th century), The church visit is free but there is a fee to visit the whole monastery. Saint Vincent is the burial place of Braganza dynasty including Catherine of Braganza who married Charles II of England. The monastery offers a vast collection of tiles and in the Church's roof top it's possible to see a magnificent view over the river and the old town..
Panteao Nacional Campo de Santa Clara
Saint Engracia's Church (17th-20th century) is the burial place of distinguished figures of Portuguese society since the middle of 20th century onward. The most known "residents" are Eusebio the football player and Amalia, the fado singer. The roof of Pantheon offers a 360 degrees view over old Lisbon.
Miradouro das Portas do Sol
This viewpoint is the center of the old town. Down to the river there is Alfama, the original settlement of Lisbon. Within a radius of 10 minutes walking there is the Castle, the viewpoint of Santa Luzia, Alfama, Saint Vincent Monastery and the National Pantheon. Miradouro Portas do Sol is the place where the traces of Moorish occupation are more visible.
10 minutesLisbon Cathedral
Cathedral of Lisbon is the oldest functional building in town. It's construction begun in 1147 when the 1st king of Portugal took the city and ended about a century later. Cathedral's architectonic basic style is Romanesque but today is a patchwork of different styles. In the same site there was once the Roman temple and the mosque, making it the cultural and religious center of Lisbon since the Romans.
