The cathedral in Split is accommodated in the former mausoleum of the emperor Diocletian, a monumental building from the 4th century. Built of massive stone blocks, the 24 m high mausoleum dominates teh central area if the palace.

A ceremonial entrance court, framed on both sides by monumental arcades and oriented towards the imperial loggia. Admire the stunning colonnaded square, one of the most beautiful ones on the Mediterranean.

It is another beautiful promenade popular with both the locals and our visitors. Off the street is the fish market where we stop to have a look where the locals buy the fresh Adriatic fish.

Prokurative or as it is officially called, Republic Square resembles the Venice St. Marks Square. The square is located west of the Riva and was named after the arches found on the neo-Renaissance buildings surrounding the square on three sides. Most people to this day know it by that name. The square is only open on the south side, providing a beautiful view of the harbour and the Riva (waterfront).
