It is situated on the Murge Hills with steep walls and its historic centre, painted only in white, is a proliferation of plans, of ups and downs, of alleys and stairways, of tangled streets that cross arches and squares. On its summit stands the monumental Cathedral, in late Gothic style.

Martina Franca is in the eastern hills of the Murge. It is a melting pot of history and art.Very charming and quaint, its historical centre, with a unique artistic beauty, is presented to the visitor in a spectacular maze of narrow streets, whitewashed houses, charming streets, old churches, valuable Baroque buildings and wrought iron balconies. Among the structures that characterize the Old Town are the Palazzo Ducale, the Palazzo Stabile, the Basilica of San Martino, Piazza XX Settembre and Piazza Roma.
