It was built on the behest of the Emperor Vespasian between 72 and 80 AD.

It was built with more than 1 million tons of materials, including travertine, marble and cement.

Hundreds of thousands of Gladiators, Animals and Convicts fought and died here over almost five centuries.

The inauguration games were held here by Titus in 80 AD, and lasted 100 days.

Gladiators and animals were brought here to fight from all corners of the known world, to provide an amazing entertainment for the people of Rome.

The Palatine Hill is everywhere started. Rome was first established here in 753 BC, by the hands of Romulus, allegedly the first King of Rome.

The archaeologists found traces of settlements from the Bronze Age, and this proves that the foundation date given is quite accurate. Today the remains of the the imperial palaces can be seen.

The Palatine hill was chosen by Romulus as it was deemed to be the best of all the 7 hills in Rome, thanks to its central position that was simply ideal.

The ancient civilizations tended to choose the high grounds close to rivers for their early settlements.

This gave a strategic advantage in case of military attacks as well as against the frequent floods of the water streams.

The Palatine Hill is where the houses of the Kings of Rome, Palaces of the Emperors and notable people were.

The Roman Forum was the very center of Rome. This where some of the most important buildings of ancient Rome.

The forum was an outdoor plaza where people gathered to discuss political and civil life matters.

In the area there were temples, basilicas and palaces of power.

The Roman Forum is where the politics of Rome where shaped, business was made and the justice was administered.

Here you can find some of the most important buildings of the ancient Rome: the house of the Senate, temples and basilicas.
