On this exciting day trip you will enjoy the best of the Campania region, including Sorrento, and a trip to the ruins of Pompeii or Herculaneum. You will be greeted at your accommodation in Rome by your private driver before heading south to the archaeological site of Pompeii, the ancient city destroyed yet preserved by the volcanic eruption of 79AD. We highly recommend the upgrade to include a private, guided tour of the world-famous site.
After stopping for lunch, you'll visit the picturesque coastal village of Sorrento, where you will have time to explore and enjoy the views, before heading back to Rome with your driver at the end of the day.

Pompeii Archaeological Park
The city has re-emerged from the darkness of centuries precisely as it would have been when it was unexpectedly buried in the thick layer of ash and lava which poured down from the devastating eruption of Vesuvius.
1 hourParco Acheologico di Ercolano
Ercolano is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania of Southern Italy. It lies at the western foot of Mount Vesuvius, on the Bay of Naples, just southeast of the city of Naples. The medieval town of Resina was built on the volcanic material left by the eruption of Vesuvius (79 AD) that destroyed the ancient city of Herculaneum, from which the present name is derived. Ercolano is a resort and the starting point for excursions to the excavations of Herculaneum and for the ascent of Vesuvius by bus. The town also manufactures leather goods, buttons, glass, and the wine known as Lacryma Christi (Tears of Christ)
1 hourSorrento
Limoncello, a digestif made from lemon rinds, alcohol, water and sugar, is produced in Sorrento. Other agricultural production includes citrus fruit, wine, nuts and olives.
1 hourSorrento Coast
The Sorrento Coast is a jagged promontory that shores up the southern end of the Bay of Naples. This peninsula of hilly terrain ends abruptly at a cliff that plunges sheerly down to the Mediterranean sea. The entire coastline around Sorrento was a Greek colony during the period of Magna Grecia, the legendary site of Homer's sirens, before being conquered by the Romans who enjoyed the area as a summer playground. It has maintained a reputation as an exclusive resort destination ever since. It boasts a mild climate, gorgeous panoramas and citrus-scented air.
