1 hourDiyaluma Falls
Upper Diyaluma Falls is a part of the Diyaluma Falls which is situated in Koslanda in the Badulla district. Trekking to the top of the Diyaluma Falls is an adventure in itself and is a challenge to be attempted by the adventurous. The trek up to the Upper Diyaluma Falls passes through quite a few waterfalls and natural pools giving an amazing view right at the top, which makes this challenging hike well worth every second. The hike requires passing through a rubber estate where hikers get to view the entire process of rubber collection and so forth.
3 hoursBuduruwagala Temple
Buduruwagala is a rock temple dating back to the ninth or 10th century. It consists of seven ancient Buddhist figures carved into the face of a large cliff. The largest measures 51 feet high, making it the tallest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka.
1 hourNine Arches Bridge
The Nine Arch Bridge (Sinhala: ආරුක්කු නමයේ පාලම,) also called the Bridge in the Sky,[3] is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country.[4] The construction of the bridge is generally attributed to a local Ceylonese builder, P. K. Appuhami, in consultation with British engineers.[5][6] The chief designer and project manager of the 'upcountry railway line of Ceylon' project was D. J. Wimalasurendra, a distinguished Ceylonese engineer and inventor. The designer of the viaduct was Harold Cuthbert Marwood of Railway Construction Department of Ceylon Government Railway. The 1923 report titled "Construction of a Concrete Railway Viaduct in Ceylon" published by the Engineering Association of Ceylon has details of all the records including the plans and drawings.
1 hourNil Diya Pokuna
Legend has it that King Rawana abducted Goddess Sita and hid in this cave. It is said that there were several tunnels under this rock which stretched for many miles. The tunnels from the Ravana Ella cave to the cold light of Nuwara Eliya near the Bogoda Rajamaha Viharaya and the Dowa Rajamaha Viharaya can still be seen today.
2 hoursLipton’s Seat
Lipton’s Seat is a popular vantage point, from where Thomas Lipton would sit with a cup of tea in hand and proudly look over his estate. Today, you can still have one of the best views from the lookout, and there is even a life-sized statue of Lipton on a bench to take pictures with! It is recommended that you go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and the late-morning fog.
