Next taste wine take lunch at Soljans Vineyard Restaurant established in 1937. Included in the tour is an open menu one course main incuding tea, coffee or juice. Taste a range of flora honeys including the famous Manuka UMFRelax with a side trip through beautiful traditional rolling sheep and cattle country to visit the Muriwai black sand beach.

Mate’s barrique fermented Chardonnay is considered one of the best wines in the country. After gaining his bachelors degree in Oenological Science in Australia the wine maker Michael Brajkovich MW became New Zealand’s first Master of Wine and has been a Chief Judge of the Air New Zealand Wine Competition.

The West Coast of New Zealand is famous for its black volcanic sand ( Titanomagnetite ) These migratory birds mate for life and you can see them nesting and rearing their young on Sandstone outcrops between August and May. Watch them fly over the Tasman Sea as they divebomb for fish. This is a department of conservation protected site and has breathtaking coastal views.
