Gjogv
We then take the stunning drive up and past the highest point on the Faroe Islands and descending into the beautiful and picturesque village of Gjógv. here we may also get the opportunity to take coffee and cake with the locals.

Tjørnuvík also has one of the oldest Viking burial grounds where you can see the original burial stones. We usually take time here to enjoy our packed lunch whilst admiring the view of the "Giant and Hag" rock formations on the headland and telling you the legend behind the rocks.

Besides its impressive formation, Fossá Waterfall is known for its dark basalt wall. Fossá waterfall is combined 140 metres drop. It is mighty impressive on a rainy day.

We will see the picturesque octagonal church next to the harbour in the beautiful village setting next to the babbling stream tumbling through the natural gorge above.
Saksun Church
We will then drive to the beautiful village of Saksun with its natural amphitheatre of cliffs and stunning nature.

We will return to Tórshavn via the brand new sub-sea tunnel from the island of Eysturoy to the island of Streymoy. It is the only sub-sea tunnel in the world with a traffic roundabout, where you can choose to either drive to the capital Tórshavn or to Skálafjorður. The roundabout, nicknamed "The Jellyfish" is unique also as it contains a major art installation of Glass and Iron with lights and around the edge, iron human figures join hands as a symbol of untity - a must see!
Kirkjubour
A representative from Heimdal Tours will collect you from your hotel and we will drive firstly to the historic village of Kirkjubøur, the southernmost village on Streymoy and the country's most important historical site with the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral from around 1300, the Saint Olav's Church from 12th century and the old farmhouse Kirkjubøargarður from 11th century, which is still occupied by the same family for 17 generations.
